Extra Long Ties
Extra Long Ties are sometimes necessary for taller men as standard length ties may not be long enough in these situations.
Finding the right extra long ties may not always seem simple as the majority of tie manufacturers and shops will cater for the more traditional standard length ties.
Extra Long Ties Needed
In British legends, neckties were started by women so the thought of the extra long ties of the modern age should not be such a big surprise except that it's a wonder that more aren't available on the market. Read the rest of this article to see more reasons why it is an enigma why most of the neckties on the market today are so short.
Well the necktie began as a simple attempt by wives to keep the frustration away with food stained clothing. They attached a piece of cloth to the collar of their husbands to maintain their clothes' clean.
This could also benefit the men in case they may want to dab their mouths in eating. Pebbles were also tackled into the end of the sleeves to decorate it. These neckties and cuff links became British treasures wanted over by men worldwide.
There are lots more interesting stories of where and how it all started. History would dictate that neckties were born in France but some would say it began in Britain and even in Egypt. In France, it was mainly because of the influence of King Louis 14th.
During his reign, wars were mainstay in Europe. During the French-Austrian war in 1688, which was started by France, the Austrian soldiers wore white scarves as their way to be identified from the opposing forces. The king upon seeing their scarves grew envious and began wearing the scarf in his courts.
But then he became bored with the design and added embroidered lace and a butterfly knot. This design became very popular because of Louis. Credits should go to the king since he opened the doors of fashion to the royal courts. It has now evolved into two categories: the bow tie which is an upward development and the necktie which is a downward development.
Still others would say that the Egyptians started the necktie fad. It began as draping over the neck and a long rectangular fabric which hangs on the shoulder. It does not quite look like a necktie but a short shawl. This primitive form symbolizes a lot to the Egyptians.
It denotes any wearer's place in their social system since only those coming from the noble families were allowed to wear it. In our modern times, we have slightly inherited this practice from them as wearing ties would stand for class differentiation as adapted from Egyptian feudal hierarchy way back centuries ago.
Other legends would say that primitive ties came from the Irish fishermen as used for observing the wind during fishing; or by the ladies of the Roman soldiers who used their neck scarves in the first century B.C. to petition for peace; and some would still claim that these were used by the British soldiers to cover them in battle.
No one can really tell how, where and when it started or if these stories were real but one thing is certain it is quite the curiosity why there aren't more extra long ties currently available.

Extra Long Ties - The Ideal Ties For Tall People
If you are a tall person who stand above six feet, chances are high that you have confronted trouble in finding a good tie that can suit you perfectly. Most of the traditional ones do not provide enough length while many others are not wide enough. This will make you look awkward even after wearing a very expensive suit. Many people are not aware that they can purchase extra long varieties of neckties. There were also limitations initially in choosing these as only a few shops would sell them. However, this is not a concern anymore as there are several online shops that sell these products. They offer a large array of color schemes, materials and designs on neckties which leave you with a reasonably good selection.
Similar to the traditional dress etiquette, there are some approaches to choose the right necktie for you based on occasion, body shape etc.
1. Color - You need to choose darker neckties for formal occasions; black being the most formal one. This is not applicable when you are wearing a three piece suit in a traditional manner where your necktie should be contrasting with the blazer's color scheme. Since formal blazers are usually dark, you can use a light colored or even a white tie which will still make you look very formal.
2. Patterns - While checkered and other patterned shirts can be an excellent choice for formal dressing, people find it quite onerous to choose the right necktie that matches with their dress. One of the most ideal solutions for this issue is choosing a necktie that can contrast well with the shirt's pattern. A similar pattern should be avoided.
Even though long neckties are ideal for tall people, your build is quite important in choosing the right one for you. If you are thin and tall, solid colors and diagonal design features will suit you pretty well. Your neck size and torso are other two determining factors which are also very important to possess a striking look. You can use ties based on your profession and occasions.
